Business Development Manager – Freight Forwarding

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Our client is a reputable Freight Forwarder with 25 years of experience. They specialise in Import, Export, and coastal Sea Freight cargoes (FCL & LCL), Warehousing and distribution, and Customs Brokerage services. They have three operational offices across the country, with Christchurch as their head office.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our client is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to join the national organisation. This new role will focus on the North Island and will require some travel to manage the territory. Ideally the role will be based between Auckland and the Bay of Plenty, or central North Island region. This is a hunting role with business opportunities around the wider North Island region. You must build strategic working relationships with customers, influence decisions, and make sound financial interpretations with a solid knowledge of our client products, services, procedures and processes.

ABOUT YOU

Our ideal candidate will have a passion for sales and a proven industry track record that can demonstrate your achievements. If this sounds like you, I would like to hear from you. The primary responsibilities of this role will include (but are not limited to): 

  • Finding, developing and managing new customer opportunities
  • Maintaining and developing existing customers for additional growth
  • Liaising directly with shipping lines for relevant pricing support
  • Working collaboratively with the broader sales team
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Thinks outside the box and will use your initiative
  • Attention to detail
  • A team player with the ability to work well under pressure
  • Pro-active and resourceful with excellent time management
  • B2B solution selling experience  
  • CargoWise experience would be an advantage 
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Excellent negotiation and numerical skills
  • Professional attitude and presentation, as well as highly motivated
  • Be able to seal the deal
